Fashion: Galia Lahav

Today, Wedding & Travel puts the spotlight on Galia Lahav, an Israel-based haute couture bridal house. Galia Lahav was born to a family of seamstresses, which gave her an early headstart into the fashion industry since young. Her design aesthetic mainly consists of dramatic and romantic gowns that are high on the glamour quotient. It is no wonder that Galia Lahav’s clientele is made up of many celebrities and socialites as well! For brides who are looking for inspiration on your perfect wedding dress, we’re sure the following two collections we have picked up: La Dolce Vita and Homage to the Sizzling 1920s will give you loads of ideas!

The La Dolce Vita collection was inspired by open skies and the unison of two. In conceptualising the collection, Galia Lahav had envisioned a love story taking place on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Despite the collection’s vintage-inspired aesthetics, we just love how the designer had kept things modern and powerful with structured silhouettes (instead of flowy ones that are commonly seen in vintage designs). The results are a collection of gorgeous, glamorous gowns that are not only beautiful on the first look, but impeccable when scrutinised.

While the iridescent beads are a sparkly delight to look at, the back of this dress is the real show-stopper for us.

We love how Galia Lahav had paired a simple and clean silhouette with elaborate beadwork in this dress, making it the perfect dress to boogie in during your wedding after-party.

If you’re searching for something with a little more character, this dress would be right up your alley. We love how this dress is masculine and feminine at the same time — we almost missed the delicate sheer sleeves, and we love how the dress is styled with a solid metallic gold belt and hat. How handsome!

This is the piece in the entire collection that best shows off the generous use of sun-kissed vintage lace in the dresses. The cut-out panels on the front paired with a dramatic veil is simply breathtaking.

This is a va-va-voom dress for all the sexy ladies out there. We love the layering of textures on the sleeves, but most of all, the split down the front of the dress paired with a deep V neckline would make sure you are the centre of attention.

Illusion low back (definitely the hottest bridal trend for 2015) — need we say more?

The Homage to the Sizzling 1920s collection, as its name suggests, is a nod to the glamour and opulence of the golden era. In this collection, we see luxurious dresses that bring together the best of both worlds with fitted and flowy silhouettes cut together in the same dress. The results? Beautiful dramatic dresses that celebrate womanly curves while maintaining a romantic and innocent air.

This dress is everything we love about the 1920s — extravagant beadwork paired with a sexy low back, styled with a birdcage veil and red lip — perfection.

Admittedly, this will be a challenge to walk down the aisle in, but which bride hasn’t had the dream of wearing such a stunning dress with a dramatic long train? While the train is voluminous, Galia Lahav makes sure that it doesn’t swallow the bride up with a clever pairing of a form-fitting bodice.

We love how these dresses fit beautifully on the bust with the use of a structured corset. The skirt, all soft and flowy, is a dream to wear.

As they all say, less is more. While this beautiful full lace tube dress is simple, it certainly does not bore. Perfect for all lanky brides out there!

This is another beautiful fitted dress from the collection. We love how this shot is impeccably styled, right down to the vintage car in the background!
