Fun Ways to Lose Weight Before Your Wedding!

Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, and it is no surprise that one often sees a bride trying to lose weight in the months before her big day. For the less disciplined, losing weight can be a big pain in the ass (trust us, we know) — that’s why we’ve sussed out these fun ways to work out to make the process more bearable!

1. Zumba

Get grooving to Zumba’s routine, which is a mix of dance and aerobics moves to help you lose weight while enjoying the music at the same time! The choreography is Latin-inspired and incorporates influences from a wide range of genres including hip-hop, salsa, samba and mambo, just to name a few. Along with the music, Zumba works fast and slow rhythmic moves into the routine to help maximise resistance training and weight loss.

2. Bokwa

Bokwa is a fascinating new group workout that provides you with a high energy cardio workout. Accompanied by pop music, the workout is simple — participants draw out letters and numbers L, 3, J, and K with their feet. There is no standard choreography to follow as long as you are dancing in accordance to the form, so you can practice Bokwa even at home after you’ve mastered the basics! And the best part is, you’ll be burning up to 1,200 calories in an one-hour session without even realising it.

3. Dance!

No matter what, just get your feet moving! There are a wide range of different dance classes offered at gyms and fitness centres out there. Depending on your preference, you can take up jazz, hip-hop, or even dirty dancing to help you shake off those pounds.

4. Belly Dance

If tummy fat is one of your biggest problem areas, belly dance is one form of exercise we highly recommend. Belly dance is an excellent workout to help you look better in your dress wedding as its moves involve twisting, hip drops and shimmies, all of which are great for toning those muscles. On the whole, the class will help you to improve your body’s flexibility while losing weight at the same time!

On top of keeping up regular exercise (preferably up to 3 sessions per week), do remember to pay extra attention to your dietary intake as well! While we definitely do not advocate starvation as a way to lose weight, it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye on your sugar and sodium intake, as these actually add on to the pounds without you realising it!

If you’re the type who can’t stop munching (regardless of whether you are hungry or not), changing your eating habits to have several small meals throughout the day, instead of just 3 full meals may help! Given that we use less energy in the night, also try to ensure that you have your biggest meal earliest in the day.

With these tips, we’re sure you’ll be making good progress towards looking your best on your wedding day!
