White tulle gowns, usually reserved for one’s nuptials, are part of a new craze in the mainland that has nothing to do with weddings.

Ditching the usual getup of a cap and gown, wedding dresses are the new dress code for Chinese female graduates who deem the look “more memorable.”

According to this report on Wall Street Journal, young women in China are flocking to stores to rent wedding gowns, for about $7 a day, for their graduation photo shoot.

To celebrate their graduation, individualized rituals – taking graduation photos dressed up as pirates or a Qing dynasty official – are reportedly common in China. What do you think of this new fad among Chinese graduates? Tell us!
