Celebrity couple Gao Yuan Yuan, 35, and Mark Chao, 30, have just tied the knot in a wedding held at the Le Meridien Hotel in Beijing on 28 November 2014. The wedding also involved star-studded guests such as director Chen Kaige (also the person who brought the couple together and their wedding ceremony witness), Carina Lau and Tony Leung, Ethan Ruan, Angelababy and so on. Wedding and Travel gives you all the details on the couple’s wedding!
The Wedding Look
Gao Yuan Yuan wore two dresses — a long white dress and a short reception dress — custom made by Chloé. Notably, this is the first time the label has custom made a wedding dress for anyone. The two dresses reportedly took half a year’s time and 20 artisans to create — the embroidery on the actress’s long white dress alone took more than 50 work hours to complete. Gao Yuan Yuan’s veil was designed by Chinese label, Lanyu.
Gao Yuan Yuan’s Chinese ceremony dress featured the generous use of lace and Swarovski crystals and was created by Chinese designer Xiazi Chen.
The couple’s wedding band come from Chaumet’s Plume line of jewellery. While modest on the first look, the classic and sleek gold wedding band actually features a hidden diamond encrusted on the inside of the band. Definitely something for couples who love understated luxury. Gao Yuan Yuan’s bangle was something she picked out for herself this June, and also comes from Chaumet. The floral design symbolises “happiness and hope”, tying in with the occasion beautifully.
As with any other well-prepared bride, Gao Yuan Yuan prepared three pairs of shoes on her wedding day. All three designs were the product of a collaboration between the actress and Chinese shoe label, Daphne.
As for the groom, Mark Chao was decked out in an Ermengildo Zegna suit.
The couple opted for a cute country vibe for their venue decorations. Sharing that Gao Yuan Yuan had a soft spot for nature and small animals, Mark Chao said this was the inspiration for the wedding theme, namely, the forest of happiness. The couple kept it simple and sweet with touches of pastels, green and wood, in form of crates and a pushcart displaying vintage wooden frames, in the entrance area. There were also a sprinkling of rabbit ornaments, apparently a favourite animal of Gao Yuan Yuan’s.
We loved how Gao Yuan Yuan chose to keep her wedding bouquet elegant with a selection of white peonies from Holland contrasted against eucalyptus leaves.
The Wedding Favours
The couple’s wedding favours included Love Story, a Chloé perfume that has yet to hit the market (how apt for the wedding!), and strawberry nougats. In addition, a postcard of the couple’s pre-weddding photo shoot in France was also included.
