If you’re looking for something different to do this weekend with your loved one, indulge yourself in a visual extravaganza with the fourth edition of Art Stage Singapore, which will take place from 16-19 January 2014 at Marina Bay Sands!

As with previous years, you can expect to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of excellent art pieces showcasing the best of Asia’s contemporary art — this year’s show boasts participation from about 600 artists and 130 galleries from 28 countries, with about 75 percent of which are based in Asia Pacific!

What is different about this year’s Art Stage though, is the introduction of eight country and regional platforms that provide a more comprehensive and immersive experience of the featured country’s art for visitors. This means that art pieces are exhibited in a museum-style layout, providing more context and information for viewers to understand the essence of the pieces, and of course, a more exciting viewing experience on the whole! The curation of each platform is also done by leading artists from the respective countries.

To help you get an up close and personal understanding of each platform, Art Stage will be offering at least three runs of a free one-hour guided tours by professional guides daily. You can also gain a deeper understanding of the art pieces and art scenes in various countries through free artist and curator talks — registration is not required, though places are limited on a first-come-first-served basis! (You can check out the full schedule of guided tours and talks here.)

Art Stage Singapore will be held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Halls D, E & F from 12pm to 7pm daily (with the exception of Sunday, 19 January, when the fair opens at 11am and closes at 6pm). Tickets are at S$30 for a one-day pass, and S$60 for a season pass. For more information about the exhibitors and art works that will be on display, do refer to Art Stage Singapore’s website at!
