For those of you looking for somewhere to go this weekend, why not visit the annual Istana Art Event, happening from 8am to 5pm this Sunday on the Istana Grounds? We don’t know about you, but the Istana has always had this mysterious feel to it with its doors closed, every time we pass by on our way to Plaza Singapura or Orchard! If you feel the same, this is your once-in-a-year chance to visit the Istana and check things out!
This year’s Istana Art Event will feature an Arts and Heritage Village, which is jointly brought to you by 11 of our museums and cultural institutions. There are lots of activities lined up that you can put your hands to work — for example, you can make your own diorama, personalise your own bank note, and even transform yourself into a stamp!
Those with an affinity for children can marvel at our young’s artistic talent at the On-the-Spot Art Competition (8am – 1:30pm) where children aged 3-12 will whip up drawings related to this year’s National Day theme of “Many Stories… One Singapore”.
But more than ever, simply soak yourself in the festive atmosphere around, and lounge on the green! After all, you don’t get to spend Sundays this way often at all.
