In a stirring piece of news we came across, Don and Maxine Simpson from Bakersfield, California, truly fulfilled the vow of “till death do us part” as they died only four hours apart from each other, holding hands during the final hours of their lives.

The couple’s granddaughter, Melissa Sloan said that her grandmother was the one who departed first, followed by her grandfather. Don and Maxine Simpson were married for 62 years, and were 90 and 87 years old respectively when they passed away.

The loving couple first met at a bowling alley in Bakersfield in 1952 and got married in the same year. Don’s career as a civil engineer for the US Army saw the young family travelling to stay in Germany for a few years, during which they adopted a pair of 18-month-old twin boys from an orphanage.
