The US-born singer, who shot to fame as part of Mandopop boy group F4 in 2001, said on Tuesday that he will be marrying Singaporean fashion entrepreneur Arissa Cheo.
The announcement was made on the singer’s personal Weibo account in Chinese: “I was impulsive! God bless everyone. Vannness Wu and Arissa Cheo have submitted the notice of marriage on 9 August according to Singapore law. The two of us hope to share our bliss with all our friends. We also hope that everyone will give us their blessings.”
Accompanying the message was a sweet photo montage of the couple’s childhood photos and a love declaration from the man saying, “As it was always meant to be… let’s fall in love again.”

Vanness, 35, and his wife-to-be Arissa, 31, first met on set of the former’s music video “My Kingdom” in 2006. According to media reports, the couple have had an on-off relationship for years, mainly due to Cheo’s father disapproval.
While the news took many by surprise, including Vanness’ former F4 mates like Jerry Yan, the decision to settle down wasn’t too much of an impulse as it seems. Vanness, who became a devout Christian in recent years, has repeatedly mentioned in press interviews last year about his desire to have his own family. In his latest album “Different Man” released in June this year, the pop star penned a song titled “小婚礼 (Marry Me)” which was seen by many as a confession for long-time girlfriend Arissa.
