A pair of passionate dancers, Li Ping and Hui Joo turned their passion for dance into the theme for their wedding night.
Ang Li Ping and Chan Hui Joo first met at Island Dance Studio. An avid shutterbug, Li Ping was there to practise his photography, and ended up taking dance classes with his friends and was partnered up with Hui Joo. The pair radiated such confidence and synchronism that their instructors signed them up for competition immediately. Despite having only 3 weeks to train, they went on to win three of the Beginners' Championship Trophies. Dancing together required the same wavelength on both parties in order to move in the same direction, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The Neptune
It was a wedding of glitzy glamour and style to rival the best of the classic Hollywood dance numbers. Friends of their dance circle arrived, each with unique dance costumes. Amidst a wild kaleidoscope of kebayas and cheongsams, the couple arrived in style. Ascending slowing on a rising platform set in the middle of the stage and clouds of dry ice, the couple wowed the audience with a fantastic dance routine.
Dance the Night Away
Combining their passion with their special day, the couple took full advantage of the Neptune's expansive dance floor. Besides the starring couple, The Neptune also had their international dancers who dazzled the audience with their moves and the guests waltzed, fox-trotted and tangoed the night away.
Sparking in the Night
Hui Joo had her gown tailormade at Kowloon Bridal. Taking the basic design from a magazine, the gown was improvised with help from the designer for the perfect fit, with a Greek Goddess-inspired train. During the dance item, Hui Joo further dazzled the guests with her dance competition peach dress specially made to measure and ordered from London, literally covered with Swarovski crystals.
Dance Highlights
As highlights of the wedding party, the couple performed 5 dances in all; the Viennese Waltz, Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep. But the favourite dance of Hui Joo remained the Foxtrot, which is both classic and lively.
