The Winning Couple's Story

When Ivy first wanted to attend the Maybe Baby Hot Date @ the Movies event, Bryan was not as enthusiastic. The reluctance stemmed from the general misplaced notion that only couples who needed help to conceive went for such events. But the pair eventually decided to go for it to see if they could take home any learning points on starting a family. Their decision was well rewarded because they became the lucky winners of a 2D/1N Stay at A’Farmosa Resort in Malacca!

“We couldn’t believe it! It was such a great surprise and we’re definitely very excited to go on this trip and spend some precious time together,” shares Ivy.

The couple got married three years ago, and the wedding ceremony was just three weeks after Ivy’s 21st birthday. They had been putting off starting a family because they always felt that to become parents, both parties had to be financially well-off and be in established careers. As such, the duo has been working hard and Ivy is even juggling night classes with her full-time job.

The ‘From Fear to Flourish’ talk by David Lock, founder and managing director of Arrows with Soul Pte Ltd, was included in the Maybe Baby couple package. David Lock is a work-life expert who taught the couples present that day how to live life to its fullest by striking a balance between career and family. The audience learnt how to plan for a family, not just where finances are concerned, but also in the more intangible and emotional aspects.

Ivy and Bryan found the talk very informative. For Bryan, he had always felt that one must work harder to be responsible for children. At the session, he learnt that apart from the monetary element, quality time is perhaps the most important factor that keeps a family together. “By taking simple holidays and indulging in our hobbies together, we can also give our children the best.”

As for Ivy, she is very excited to have her first baby. “I don’t think anything can beat the joy of coming home to your kids after a long hard day at work!”

Their Hopes and Dreams

The pair hopes to have at least two children in the next few years, but they expressed their desire for the older sibling to be a girl. They have been reading up on how to increase the chances of giving birth to a baby girl, and have learnt that even things like dietary choices play a part.

“At the end of the day, of course what is most important is for our kids to be healthy,” says Ivy.

Both Ivy and Bryan strongly encourage young couples to attend similar events and talks because they believe that such initiatives are very enlightening. In the meantime, though, they are really looking forward to their holiday to A’Farmosa Resort. They are more than exhilarated that they can take this time to unwind and simply spend some quality time with each other – which is important to keep any loving relationship going, as they have learnt.

W&T wishes them much fun during the trip, and all the best in starting a family!
