RAIN & KIM TAE HEE’s SGD1,600 WEDDING

When Korean superstar Rain announced his marriage plans with actress Kim Tae Hee on 17 Jan 2017, no one could have expected that the wedding would be held two days later.

In his handwritten letter posted on his Instagram account, Rain had expressed the couple’s wish to have a private and quiet wedding as their country is currently going through emotional and financially difficult times.

In contrast to many of the high profile celebrity weddings we saw in 2016, the couple, both Catholics, held their wedding at Gaheo-dong Catheral in Seoul. The modest ceremony attended by some 50 guests cost just SGD1,600.

A graduate of the Seoul National University with a diploma in fashion studies, Kim chose to design her own wedding dress, with the help of her stylist, instead of flaunting a designer gown.

After the wedding, Kim released her handwritten letter to fans, thanking them for their well wishes and support in spite of the sudden news. She also thanked her partner for his “overflowing love” and promised to be someone he can lean on and count on for support.

The low-key couple had originally declared that their honeymoon will be postponed for the foreseeable future. On 20 Jan, however, their management companies announced in a joint press release that the couple will be leaving for their honeymoon on 22 Jan. Was it a ploy to throw the paparazzi off-guard? We’ll never know.

Although the specific location was not revealed, holiday makers in Bali can keep their eyes open for the newlyweds who will be there for a supposed total of five days.

What is this we hear? In yet another wedding to hit the Chinese entertainment circle, Taiwanese actor Ken Chu (of Meteor Garden fame) and Chinese actress Vivien Han have gotten married in a beautiful ceremony held in Bali!

The photogenic couple first met on the set of Chinese drama “Dreams Come True” two years ago. Despite just dating for a year, Ken Chu popped the question to the love of his life on her birthday in April with a three-carat heart-shaped diamond ring in front of friends and family. The couple has also since shared the touching proposal story, which also included a serenade by Ken Chu and heartfelt words of thanks, which brought tears to the couple’s eyes.

While the couple put up an entertaining show for their guests, performing duets and dances during the wedding, the highlight of the ceremony was no doubt the attendance of Ken Chu’s Meteor Garden ” F4 brothers” Vanness Wu and Jerry Yan. While Jerry Yan had earlier hinted that he might not be able to attend the wedding due to work commitments, this turned out to be his big surprise for Ken Chu, when he turned up. With Ken Chu’s marriage, Jerry Yan is also officially the last bachelor standing in F4.

Celebrity Wedding: Won Bin & Lee Na Young

Bucking the trend of extravagant celebrity weddings with excessive fanfare, top Korean celebrities Won Bin and Lee Na Young have tied the knot in a private and intimate wedding in the Korean countryside.

The couple’s wedding was attended by just 50 of their closest family members and friends and there were no celebrities in attendance. Representatives from their agencies revealed that the couple wanted to have a wedding that was “as quiet as possible” as they “make an ever-lasting promise” to each other.

It was also reported that Won Bin and Lee Na Young wanted to have a small ceremony that would be meaningful, and that the couple handled many aspects of the wedding on their own, including the bridal bouquet, which consisted of wild flowers gathered from the field that was the wedding venue. (Altogether now, aww…)

From the pictures, both Won Bin and Lee Na Young look a million bucks even with an ultra simple wedding ceremony. We are loving the couple’s super down-to-earth approach to celebrity weddings!

Congratulations to the gorgeous couple!

Celebrity Wedding: Geri Halliwell

Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell has gotten hitched! The former Spice Girl got married to Formula 1 racer Christian Horner last week at St. Mary’s church in Woburn, Bedfordshire.

Taking a sharp diversion from her adventurous sartorial choices in the past, Halliwell kept it simple and chic with a three-quarter sleeved Phillipa Lepley ivory lace gown. (Designer Phillipa Lepley is a bridal couturier based in Chelsea who is popular with English high society.)

Halliwell’s gown, while a tad too safe for us, is elegant and absolutely age-appropriate for the 42-year-old bride. She was all smiles for the camera as she entered the church, and a slight hitch of her hem revealed that she was rocking golden stilettos under her gown.

And for all you Spice Girls fans who are wondering who will be next to get married, Halliwell has hinted that Baby Spice Emma Bunton might just be next.

Congrats to Geri Halliwell!
